Jump up and down 500 times. Are you tired? Walk around the block 500 times. Are your feet heavy? Tell your sweet boy to put his socks in the laundry instead of on the floor 500 times, are you frustrated? Make 500 pies, are you full to bursting? 500. FIVE HUNDRED. 5 x 100.
Go without the kisses from your mom and dad for 500 senseless days. Worry about whether or not you will have food even though you have a family who desperately wants to provide for you for 500 days. Be caught in an orphanage instead of a home for 500 days longer than necessary. Wonder if your parents really do love you because they haven't come to get you yet for 500 days. The 500 must feel like 5000 to our children.
500 That's how many days we, and hundreds of other families, have been waiting for the suspension to lift so that our children could come home. 500.
What have I accomplished in 500 days? I can't even compute. How many loads of laundry? how many drives to school? meals for my family and meals for friends? How many celebrations? How many tears, sighs, pounds ugh. how many? How long does it take, how long will it take to bring our children home? How many babies have been born? How many children have come home from other nations? How many children have died, waiting to come home? How many children have been trafficked? How many children are just a stones throw away form dying, prostitution, or enslavement How many? How long must we wait Oh Lord? How long?
Father,
You are our hope and salvation. Lord God, Mighty one, Maker of all, release these children. Untie the knot of bondage. Let them come home to us. Lord, You alone are most high. You alone are capable of freeing them. Break the chains. Release these children. Thank you God for your mighty power. Just like Paul when he was in prison Lord, break the chains, and let all who witness see your glory and might!
In Jesus Name we pray.
Amen.
Psalm 2:3
“Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles!”
